VISITORS EXPERIENCE THE MANY FACES OF HONDA

Honda recently opened its Somerton manufacturing plant for its 2011 product demonstration day, showcasing the premium brand’s many offerings.

The Honda Experience combined a tour of the Honda Manufacturing Australia (HMA) plant with a hands-on test of Honda Power Equipment products, and a motorcycle ride at the Honda Australia Rider Training (HART) facility.

Honda Power Equipment National Marketing Manager, Atul Ganjoo, said the Honda Experience aimed to highlight the premium brand’s operations and vast product range.

“It was pleasing to have so many guests on-site to discover what goes on at our new HMA facility, which embodies our commitment and support of the Australian economy. We’re certainly proud to be among the very few power equipment brands that continues to base operations in Australia,” Mr Ganjoo said.

“An integral part of the Honda Experience was our power equipment demonstration, which combined an overview of the advanced technology and market-leading safety features of the Honda product range with the opportunity for guests to try it out for themselves.

“We also wanted to give people the opportunity to sample Honda’s iconic motorcycles by offering the chance to take a spin around the tracks at HART, which was a lot of fun for everyone involved.”

HMA, the location of the Honda Experience, employs 25 local workers who assemble lawnmowers on-site for both Australian and export markets including New Zealand, South Africa, Egypt, India, the Middle East, the South Pacific and parts of Asia.

Apart from lawnmowers, five brushcutter models are also assembled at the facility.

HMA moved into its purpose-built, 17,500 square-metre Somerton facility in 2009 to meet its growing manufacturing and warehousing requirements.
