TV Landscaper Joins National Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo 2019

No one knows landscaping equipment better than television landscaper Jason Hodges. A familiar face on television’s Better Homes & Gardens, Jason’s ideas and creativity have become essential viewing for aspiring home landscapers.

As the National Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo ambassador for 2019, Jason will be on hand for anyone to meet and greet, and to ask questions about some of his landscaping hints.

Turning A Passion Into A Career

By the time he completed high school, Jason had turned mowing the lawns of a few neighbours into a business. Always loving the outdoors, Jason studied landscape construction at Ryde TAFE, opening his own landscape business in the early 1990s. With success in his field came opportunities. He moved on to part-time teaching and in 1999 joined Channel 7.

Twenty years later he’s still entertaining and informing people about his passion, the great Aussie backyard. Whether it be a push mower, ride-on, a blower or a Toro mini digger, Jason loves using the right gear for every job.

“You wouldn’t go out to bat in a test match with a golf club, and you wouldn’t play golf with a cricket bat,” Jason said. “Diesel Dirt & Turf is an excellent opportunity to learn what you need to do your jobs easier, quicker, safer and more profitably.”

Landscape Competition Winner

Jason knows what he’s talking about. As one of the most successful landscapers in Australia, he’s a five-time gold medalist at The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS). In 2012, he made his Show Garden debut at London’s prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, taking out second prize.

Jason now has a topiary farm in Berry, New South Wales, with his partner Lisa, and supplies wholesale to nurseries and landscapes. He is a dad to daughter Heidi and son Jake, both nine, and it’s rare to find him without his beloved fox terrier Dannii at his side.
