Timex T80 Pacman

Who remembers Timex? ‘Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’?

Whatever.

Timex has been making watches since Moses was a boy and were always a bit of a no-frills option. Now, riding the latest burst of retro enthusiasm, the watch company has released an old-fashioned digital watch with – wait for it – Pacman built in!

Ooooh, yeah.

For when too much 1980s dorkiness just isn’t enough.

The Timex T80 range is basically a set of watches which revive the look and feel of the 1980s when ‘digital’ was cool. Clever design has these new ones presenting fairly well, and while we’re a little cynical about things like Polaroid photography, vinyl records and other retro trends, we could almost be talked into one of these.

Almost, but not.

The watch itself is waterproof to 30 metres, has a stopwatch and countdown timer and an ‘Indiglo’ light-up dial.

And you can play Pacman on it.

The only bricks-and-mortar store we could find stocking the T80 was Myer, but there’s heaps of websites selling ’em. Asking price is around $80.
