Monster Energy Super X revving up for an explosive 2011 series

Don’t miss your chance to be trackside for this year’s Monster Energy Super X – the Australasian Supercross Championship, which promises to deliver the most insane live motorsport action in Australia with exhilarating race formats, international standard supercross tracks and five new locations in October and November.

The five round series kicks off with its first ever event in Melbourne on Saturday October 22, before heading to Wollongong October 29; Sydney (Campbelltown) November 5; the Hunter Valley (Maitland) November 12 and concluding in South East Queensland (Ipswich) on Saturday November 19.

The first class rider lineup includes Dan Reardon, Jay and Ryan Marmont, Billy MacKenzie, Cheyne Boyd, Jake and Matt Moss and Cody Cooper battling bar to bar.

In a first for the series, this year the Monster Energy Super X will run an under 19’s class in addition to the Pro Open, Pro Lites and Michelin Development Series (for riders aged 14 and 15). Managing Director of Global Action Sports, Michael Porra, said the new class was in response to the huge number of talented young supercross riders in the country.

“The sport of supercross continues to grow in Australia and Super X is committed to supporting this growth by offering invaluable racing experience on international standard tracks to our future stars of the sport.”

In another first, series organisers will introduce the Monster Energy Super X Club Challenge, which will run as a relay team race at every round and is open to any club and its riders (supercross endorsed) in Australia. Each team will consist of four riders; one Open, one Lites and two Under 19’s, with points tallied from every round to crown the winning club at the series decider in Ipswich on November 19.

Based on the format of the incredibly popular Australia versus USA team challenge, which featured as an exhibition race in 2010, each team member will race one lap and will need to tag their next team mate before they can take off.

There will be a $10,000 prize pool on offer for the winning team with a $5,000 cash prize from Global Action Sports that will be matched with $5,000 from Monster Energy to go toward club development.

This year’s series will have more entertainment for fans on race day than ever before with the addition of a Monster Energy FMX demo and the inaugural Braaap Pit Bike Cup, which will both feature at every round.

Great value tickets will be available through www.superx.com.au with all new more affordable prices starting from $19 (plus booking fee).
